If you wish to start afresh with cPanel, then it is a great way to reset the file manager, as it’ll provide a clean and well-organized working area. Through this step-by-step guide, we’ll explain the process of resetting the cPanel file manager:

Simple Steps to Reset cPanel File Manager

  1. First of all, log in to your cPanel. Look for the “File Manager” option and select it. It’ll list all the existing files and folders.
  2. Still, several other hidden files can be located here.
  3. Now, it is necessary to edit settings to see all the hidden files
  4. Head to the “Settings” option.
  5. Tick the “Show hidden files” checkbox.
  6. The next step is to delete all the existing files and folders in order to start the reset process.
  7. Tick the “Select All” option.
  8. Then click the “Delete” button.
  9. A popup to confirm deletion will open. If the recycle bin option is not required, then you can skip it.
  10. Now confirm the deletion.
  11. All the files and folders get deleted.
  12. After that, you’re required to reload the page. Click on the “Reload” option, and once you reload this page, you might see different folders labeled trash, cPanel, etc. These are used by cPanel for technical operations.
  13. Next, you should upload the original or standard cPanel files and folders in order to reset the file manager. Moreover, once you upload the files, you’ll be able to utilize WordPress or execute other websites on it.
  14. At this point, click the “Upload” button.
  15. Select the file you want to upload to and click “Open.”
  16. Upload will be done
  17. Again, reload the page.
  18.  Now extract the zip folder. No directory selection is required now; just put a slash.
  19. Click the “Extract” button.
  20. It’ll display the original files and folders of your cPanel.
  21. Check if your public_html file is clickable; if it is, then you have done the reset process correctly.
  22. Don’t forget to delete the zip file once your task is finished.
