An image thumbnail is a smaller version of a bigger image. The thumbnail either serves as a link to the bigger image or it is a smaller representation in a preview. With the use of thumbnails, you can display a large number of images on one page and avoid the loading of larger image files unless the visitor wants to view them.
Below mentioned are the steps for creating image thumbnails in cPanel:
- Login to cPanel.
- Go to the ‘Files’ section and click on ‘Images’ link or icon.
- Click on the ‘Thumbnailer’ option.
- After this step, the file structure of your cPanel will be displayed. Click on the respective folder icon for navigating along with the folder name for selecting.
- Usually, your image files will be a part of a website, so you need to click on the ‘public_html’ folder icon.
- Click on the name of the folder that consists of the image files that you want to thumbnail.
- Enter the value for the height and width of the thumbnails. In order to reduce the stretching and distorting of the images when the image size is reduced, make sure to check the box – ‘Keep Aspect Ratio’.
- Click on the ‘Thumbnails Images’ button.
- The image processing will be shown on the next page. Once all the images you selected arte thumbnailed, a success message will be displayed – ‘Your images have been thumbnailed into…’ that displays the path to the thumbnail images.
- When you login through FTP into your website, you will be able to see a newly created directory – ‘Thumbnails’.
Through cPanel, you can easily create thumbnailed images that can save a great deal of time and effort for you. Creating image thumbnails through cPanel is especially beneficial for the websites that consists of a large number of images.
