During transfer the expiry date remains unchanged, and hence the time on the domain name is not lost.

Note the condition that if your domain expired, and you renewed it with your current registrar, then we highly advise not to transfer the domain to us within 45 days from the previous expiry date.
If you transfer your domain within the mentioned period, you’ll lose on 1 year free renewal. This condition is applicable to all gTLDs (Generic Top-Level Domains) like .COM, .NET. .ORG, etc.
