When updating the website from the admin panel of a CMS, you might receive the errors below in apache error log file OR your custom error log file.
[STDERR] ALERT – configured GET variable name length limit exceeded – dropped variable (attacker ‘xx.xx.xx.xx’, file ‘/home/user/public_html/index.php’)
This is because of suhosin compiled with php on the server. To overcome this, there is no need to disable suhosin on the server. Increasing suhosin.get.max_value_length limit will fix the issue. The default limit for suhosin.get.max_value_length is set to 1024. It’s safe to double the value.
If you are hosted on a shared hosting plan, ask your webhost to increase the limit for your account. If you lease a VPS OR Dedicated Server you can increase the limit in server’s php.ini & restart apache.
